Limousine Intercom
The problem: Many American-built limos come with a telephone-type intercom where the
driver must pick up a handset to speak to passengers.
However, it's a
specific offence in the U.K. to use a hand-held phone or similar device
when driving.
The fine is a £30 fixed penalty or up to £1,000 on conviction in court (£2,500
for drivers of goods vehicles, buses or coaches).
The solution? The Wolf Limousine Intercom offers completely hands-free
operation for the driver. There are one or more telephone-type handsets for the
passenger area only.
Limousine Intercom Operation
From the rear: Pick up the handset and press the button. This will call the
driver to switch on the Intercom. Speak and then replace the handset when
finished.
From the driver: When called from the handset, a buzzer will sound. Switch
the Intercom on.
Speak to the passengers and hear their response over the front speaker. To call
the handset, turn on the Intercom and press the call button. Wait for the
handset to be picked up.

Bus Driver and Passenger
The problem: The health and safety of bus drivers on one-person
operated buses, particularly on night routes, has become a concern. Many fleets
have tried fitting a safety panel between the driver and the public.
Unfortunately, this leads to communication difficulties between the driver
and passengers at the crucial point of entry and fare payment.
The solution: Wolf has been working with fleet managers, union
representatives and a specialist installation company to develop the ideal
intercom for this environment. We give you a rugged, reliable communications
system that requires no special actions to use.
Wolf can provide kits for retrofitting to existing buses — or develop
customised solutions for bus manufacturers

clear communications between the two is vital.
Wolf systems are custom
designed for each vehicle.
The driver's operation is usually fully hands-free.

Security
Vehicles, Cash Collection & Armoured Cars
Prisoner Transport Vehicles, Police and Military Applications
Wolf has developed a number of highly specialised intercom systems where
clear, two-way communication and rugged reliability are the main concerns. We
work with both the end user and the vehicle builder to produce a solution to
their needs.
Our systems are custom designed for each vehicle. The driver’s operation is
usually fully hands-free. The rear area can be hands-free or, if more discreet
communication is required, the vehicle can be fitted with headset sockets or
telephone-type handsets.
We also have produced Intercoms for two-way communication from inside the
vehicle to the outside. The system can be discreet, with hidden microphones and
speakers, or it can be a clearly marked panel on the side of the vehicle.
The photographs show typical vehicles for which we have provided Intercoms.

Airport Support Vehicles
Clear communication between the driver and the raised cabin is vital when
loading, manoeuvering and positioning alongside a plane. Radio systems can be
subject to interference or failure when batteries are low, but our hardwired
intercoms provide the perfect system. The driver’s hands are free to control the
vehicle, and the cabin-staff has a telephone-type handset for discrete
communications.
From the Cabin: Pick up the handset and press the button. This will
call the driver to switch on the Intercom. Speak and then replace the handset
when finished.
From the Driver: When called from the handset, a buzzer will sound.
Switch the Intercom on.
Speak to the crew through the cab microphone and hear the response over the
speaker. To call the handset, turn on the Intercom and press the call button.
Wait for the handset to be picked up.
Typical Kit Contents
Driver’s Microphone
Driver’s Speaker, 4-Ohm 6-Watt surface mount mini pod.
Rear telephone type handset
Wiring Harness
Intercom module
2 x On/Off Switches

Construction and Road Maintenance Vehicles
Clear communication between the vehicle driver and the crew in the rear is
vital.
Radio systems can be subject to interference or failure when batteries are
low, but our hardwired intercoms provide the perfect system.
The driver’s hands are free to control the vehicle, and the rear crew can
communicate through plug-in headsets.
The
wide range of headset options include a hard hat and ear defenders.

The
Highways Agency “Good Working Practises” document specifies that a
Driver/Operative communication system be provided for Road Cone Installation and
Removal Vehicles.

Health
& Safety and Disability Discrimination Act Applications
The Health and Safety of staff and customers is now the legal responsibility
of companies and employers. The Disability Discrimination Act states that
whenever information is verbally provided, any
business or organisation providing a product or service to the public
must provide auxiliary aids and services to make it easier to use such
services.
Wolf provides a number of custom solutions, including intercoms with hearing
aid-compatible Induction Loop systems.
